FAQ

I’ll use this page to address commonly asked questions. Or just explain some terminology I use with regards to iPhone theming. I’ve been at it for a while, so I may not always remember to explain what certain terms and acronyms mean.

Will Jailbreaking void my warranty?
While jailbreaking is now legal, it could void your warranty, but only if you fail to restore to factory settings when/if you need to take it to an Apple Store for service. Back up your jailbreak modifications/apps first (try PkgBackup), restore your iPhone, and then take your phone in. They won’t know the difference, and Apple Care Plan/warranty is still valid. Of course, I’ve never had to take my phone in, so I can’t speak from personal experience. I still think a jailbreak is worth it!

What’s the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking?
Jailbreaking is the process that gives you root access to your phone so you can run 3rd party software and tweaks that Apple’s default software won’t allow. Unlocking is the process of removing Apple SIM restrictions that then allows you use your phone with a non-official carrier like T-Mobile.

Why do some themes say “HD” and other don’t?
HD is especially for iPhone 4 and its retina display. If you don’t own an iPhone 4, don’t install that version of a theme. Instead, install the version without HD in the title. Also, always be sure to read the descriptions before installing any theme. It will say what devices it’s compatible for, so you’ll know which one to choose.
